Why doesn't Transferwise (Wise) accept wire transfers via Barion?

Transferwise (now known as Wise) does not always accept funds sent via Barion, and in such cases, the amount is returned to us without any identifying information.

In these cases, the amount is returned to the Barion. However, since it does not include the top-up code linked to your Barion Wallet — which Wise cannot know — we are unable to automatically credit it to your account. The funds are placed in “custody”: the money arrives in our account, but without an identifier, we cannot link it to your Barion Wallet.

We can credit the amount to your wallet based on the transfer confirmation. So if Wise was unable to receive the amount you sent and returned it to us, please request a transfer receipt from them and send it to us (after logging in to your Barion Wallet under "Customer Service" menu you can do so). Based on that, we’ll be able to credit the amount to your Barion Wallet. This confirmation is usually available for download on the Wise platform under the original transaction.
