Why is logging in with my Barion app more secure than using a password?

All online services require a username and a password for access, which means everyone uses dozens of passwords every day. Without a dedicated password manager, sharing passwords, using the same ones on different sites, and creating simple, easy-to-guess passwords are quite common, and makes it easier for hackers to gain access to accounts.

When you add your app as an authenticator, your password is replaced either with biometric authentication (fingerprint-, or face recognition), or your PIN, which is specific to the device you own. These are extremely difficult to recreate, and you don’t have to remember them.

Barion implements FIDO2, which is the collective term for the Fast Identity Online Alliance’s newest set of strong authentication standards and protocols. FIDO2 offers a passwordless authentication solution, so you don’t need to remember complex passwords, or go through tedious password reset processes. Adding your Barion app as an authenticator is an easy-to-use additional layer of security for your money.
